On Thursday evening, the police ended an action in the Hugohaus in Berlin-Friedrichshain. Friedrichshain is a district in the east of Berlin. People were staying there in a building without permission.
Before that, there were also accusations about attacks in this house. That means: People said others had attacked them. First, about 200 police officers went into the house at Gürtelstraße 39. They took the last six people out of the building. Then the police wanted to know their names and addresses.
For this, the police had a paper from a court. This paper allowed the police to search the house. The police say: This was not a real eviction. In an eviction, all people must leave the house. Here it was mainly about checking the people.
After that, the house owners took care of the building. After that, they wanted more protection for the house. So they asked a private company for help. This company does not work as part of the police. It is now still watching the house. In the end, no one gets into the house without permission.
